Detroit Afrikan Music Institution (DAMI) exists to promote new modalities of contemporary musical expression, created by Afrikan descendants in the 21st Century and beyond. Inspired by a diverse group of artists, musicians, designers, and cultural advocates, this institution supports artistic innovation, sonic hybridity, and intergenerational experimentation that leverages Detroit’s dynamic design culture and unparalleled musical legacies.

DAMI’s programming is dedicated to enriching human experience through the production of cultural amalgamations, integrating Afrikan ancestry with indigenous affinities, to foster new translocal community-controlled economies.
